Agrologist / Agronomist Project Manager


The BC-based Agrologist / Agronomist Project Manager position is an opportunity to join a growing team of professionals passionate about the SYLVIS mission to Make Waste History through sustainable residuals management. With proven agronomy experience in soils and fertilization and strong project management skills, this role will be responsible to manage large client-based projects implementing the beneficial use of biosolids and/or other residuals (wood ash, pulp and paper residuals, etc.). The Agrologist / Agronomist Project Manager will be empowered to lead their project teams with a high level of autonomy to deliver exceptional results on time and on budget. They will use their experience in agriculture and exceptional communication skills to build rapport with clients, land partners, and agricultural producers.



Functions and Responsibilities


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Use project management skills to deliver large-scale operational residuals management projects on time and on budget.

  • Use interpersonal skills to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment both internally and externally. Develop and maintain key relationships with clients, landowners, and interested parties.

  • Use knowledge of residuals, agronomy, soil science, fertilization, and plant science to ensure projects are regulatory compliant and executed according to best practices.

  • Use writing and technical skills to author and sign off on land application plans, regulatory documents, and project reports.

  • Use organization skills to develop and maintain meticulous project records and documentation.

  • Use mentoring skills to support junior employees and foster a culture of learning, growth, and operational safety.

  • Use exceptional communication skills to conduct tours for our clients and the public.



Qualifications



  • Degree in a relevant environmental science-based discipline (e.g. agronomy, plant science, soil science, environmental management, environmental engineering)

  • Valid Canadian driver’s license

  • Professional designation (PAg, RPBio, PEng) with practice area(s) relevant to residuals management



Skills and Experience



  • Minimum of five years experience in a relevant role

  • Minimum of two years experience signing as a qualified professional in agriculture, forestry, or reclamation

  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations enabling fertilizer and residuals land application in British Columbia

  • Excellent professional writing and oral communication skills

  • A can-do attitude and superior attention to detail and quality

  • Ability to travel to operational sites throughout British Columbia

  • Experience managing subcontractors
