As we continue to expand our Compressed Air Systems business in Atlantic Canada, we are looking for a motivated Technical Sales Representative to join our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia team. Position Summary
The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for growing sales and profitability of Proax's compressed air solutions throughout the assigned territory. This role develops new business opportunities while supporting existing customers through consultative selling and technical expertise. Working closely with our Inside Sales, Service, Engineering and Operations teams, you will recommend complete compressed air system solutions that improve customer productivity, reduce operating costs, and maximize equipment reliability. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving sales targets while building long-term customer relationships based on trust, technical knowledge, and exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
Develop and execute an annual territory business plan to achieve sales and gross margin objectives.
Identify, qualify and secure new customer opportunities across manufacturing and industrial markets.
Expand business within existing accounts by identifying new applications and growth opportunities.
Build strong relationships with maintenance managers, plant managers, engineers, contractors and purchasing teams.
Conduct regular customer visits throughout the assigned territory.
Technical Sales
Recommend compressed air solutions including compressors, dryers, filtration, piping systems, vacuum systems and related accessories.
Perform compressed air system assessments and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and reliability.
Develop proposals, quotations and system recommendations.
Collaborate with suppliers and internal technical specialists on engineered solutions.
Present technical recommendations and return-on-investment (ROI) analyses to customers.
Customer Support
Coordinate projects with Inside Sales, Service and Operations teams.
Support equipment installations and major customer projects.
Maintain ongoing customer communication throughout the sales process.
Develop opportunities for preventative maintenance agreements, replacement equipment, upgrades and aftermarket services.
Territory & Pipeline Management
Maintain an active sales pipeline using the company's CRM system.
Provide accurate sales forecasts and territory updates.
Monitor competitive activity and market trends.
Participate in customer events, trade shows, technical seminars and supplier training.
Support vendor growth initiatives and product launches.
Qualifications
Experience
3–5 years of industrial technical sales experience.
Experience with compressed air systems is preferred.
Experience selling industrial equipment, automation, mechanical systems or engineered solutions is considered an asset.
Demonstrated success in developing new business and managing customer relationships.
Technical Knowledge
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand industrial manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of compressors, dryers, filtration, piping systems and compressed air applications is preferred.
Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and equipment layouts.
Strong problem-solving and consultative selling skills.
Education
Technical Diploma, Engineering Technology Diploma, Business Degree, or equivalent industry experience.
