Job Description - Aircraft Appearance Lead

MAINTAIR AVIATION SERVICES has a 35+ year history of providing safe, customer focused aviation services. We are currently expanding our Aircraft Appearance team and are currently seeking candidates for AIRCRAFT APPEARANCE LEAD in Thunder Bay ON!



SHIFTS AVAILABLE: 


Overnight shifts 


9pm-3am Note: The timings may change based on the flight delays or operational requirements.

JOB SUMMARY: The Aircraft Appearance Lead works under the direction of the  Manager - Below the Wing (BTW) to ensure all aspects of aircraft grooming are completed according to specific company policies & procedures. They are a part of the overall Maintair Family. They will support and work alongside all areas of the company and foster the team atmosphere of Maintair. This includes but is not limited to;  Porter, WestJet, Flair and more. Safety, attention to detail, following company procedures, and teamwork are key components to be a successful Lead. Leadership and team management capabilities are essential for the successful candidate. The ideal candidate must possess excellent verbal & written communication skills, be energetic, outgoing, understanding and accepting of change. They must also be flexible and able to deal with the adapting nature of aviation.


 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Ensure Aircraft Deep, Detailed and RON Grooms are completed per company requirements.

  • Ensure QA Checks are completed before completing groom tasks.

  • Engage a work team of 4-8 people to meet Service Level Agreements and carrier policies.

  • Propel and engage new team members through direct mentorship and hands-on training.

  • Advise management of no-show or late team members and productivity issues.

  • Delegate tasks as required; Manage downtime productivity with your team.

  • Be hands-on and work with the team ensuring safety and efficiency are priority.

  • Work with all co-workers and customers (ATW, BTW) to ensure strategic and efficient use of your team.

  • Complete inventory and ordering requirements for all Company and Carrier Cleaning Supplies.

  • Ensure the safe operation of all GSE and related equipment and report violations.

  • Ensure daily inspection of all grooming equipment is complete, and DI logs complete.

  • Complete equipment deficiency and hazard reports as required.

  • Attend all required training sessions and successfully complete training courses.

  • Actively participate in company and air carrier safety management programs.

  • Work as a team member in a safe, efficient, professional manner.

  • Adhere to and manage published uniform standards and PPE requirements.

  • Follow all safety guidelines and safe workplace procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:



  • Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent experience (Post Secondary Education Preferred).

  • Existing Lead or Supervisor Experience (1-2 years).

  • Existing cleaning experiences is considered and asset (2-3 years).

  • Current Criminal Record Check required.

  • Must have or be able to apply and secure an Airport Restricted Area Pass (RAIC).

  • Knowledge of aviation and its related terms, short forms and verbiage.

  • Must have valid driver’s license with clean abstract.

  • Ability to speak, write and understand the English language.

  • Must have excellent team player competencies.

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, and/or in a team environment working varied and/or split shifts.

  • Must be able to supervise a team of 4-8, working on varying air carrier ops procedures.

  • Must be able to manage and engage conflict resolution procedures when required.

  • Must be willing to adapt to the changing nature of aviation.

  • Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions, on overnight shifts.

  • Must be able to communicate all concerns to management.

  • Must maintain a professional and experienced level of service with all Maintair customers.


 


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:



  • $125.00 per year Protective Footwear Allowance.

  • PPE required is provided to employee.

  • 50/50 Cost Share on all Uniform Pieces.

  • Paid Training.

  • This positioned is covered by a Collective Agreement.
