Job Description - Aircraft Sheet Metal Technician

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Core Structural Competencies



  • Perform inspection, repair, modification, installation, and troubleshooting of aircraft structures.

  • Assess structural damage and recommend appropriate repair methods.

  • Design, fabricate, and install structural repairs in accordance with technical standards.

  • Read, interpret, and accurately apply engineering drawings, technical plans, and specifications.

  • Manufacture, assemble, install, and repair structural components and equipment as per established requirements.


Additional Competencies



  • Participate in Flight Line operations, including:


    • Aircraft start-up, recovery, and ground handling procedures (Park & Start / marshaling).

    • Daily and pre-flight inspections.

    • Aircraft refueling.


  • Sign and review documents and forms certifying work performed, in accordance with company procedures.

  • Carry out various related tasks, including maintenance work.

  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and standards.


 


Qualifications



  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, including proficiency in riveting, bending, and custom forming of aluminum, stainless steel, and other materials, as well as strong ability to navigate aircraft technical documentation and the RACS.

  • Proven experience performing complex tasks requiring judgment, initiative, and specialized technical expertise.

  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team within a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to communicate in English.

  • Transport Canada–approved/accredited training (asset).

  • Possession of or progress toward obtaining a Transport Canada “S” License (asset).

  • Ability to obtain a valid passport.

  • Availability to travel within Canada and the United States.

  • Previous ramp/flight‑line experience on commercial or military aircraft.


 


Working Conditions



  • Availability for a flexible schedule, including overtime and shift work based on operational needs.

  • Possibility of outdoor work.

  • Travel required, including potential international travel.


 


Health and Safety



  • Work in compliance with all applicable health and safety laws, regulations, and company guidelines.

  • Follow safe work practices and properly use personal and collective protective equipment.

  • Immediately report any hazards, unsafe conditions, or risky activities to their supervisor.


 


Security / CGP / ITAR Requirements


This position requires:



  • Controlled Goods Program (CGP) accreditation.

  • A Secret Level 2 security clearance.
