Analyst - CHW Diabetes Program

Salary Range: $68,778 - $100,438 / $37.790 to $55.186 per hour

Job Summary:

The CHW Diabetes Program collaborates with various internal departments and external partners on projects relevant and of interest to Sioux Lookout area First Nations related to diabetes management, prevention, and supporting community health workers. The program also contributes to research projects, such as the CIHR funded Diabetes Connections Project and often submits proposals for funding opportunities.

The Program Analyst will be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of programs, analyzing data, and providing insights to improve program performance. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in data management, and the ability to communicate findings effectively. The Program Analyst will be responsible for briefings and reports to the Manager and VP-Community Health, the analyst will also provide administrative support that is needed to prepare correspondence and briefing notes. 

Accountability:  

The Analyst – CHW Diabetes Program is directly accountable to the Manager – CHW Diabetes Program.

Qualifications:

• Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment)


• Post-secondary degree in public health, biostatistics, epidemiology, health promotion or related discipline and/or combined relevant experience


• Experience working with First Nations peoples


• Minimum two (2) years work experience in Health Information Management, working on research project(s), and/or policy development or a combination of education/experience as deemed acceptable by SLFNHA.


• Ability to prepare and deliver high quality written reports and presentations for diverse audiences with the ability to express ideas clearly and that are culturally appropriate.


• Experience writing and developing funding proposals, abstracts, policies, and protocols is considered an asset.


• Excellent organization and communication skills.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


• Proficient in using MS Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)


• Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects in the Sioux Lookout Zone is an asset.


• The ability to perform the requirements of the position on a regular basis

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Create, adapt, and update program monitoring, evaluation and knowledge translation tools.


• Conduct thorough evaluations of program performance, including qualitative and quantitative analysis of outcomes.


• Collect, analyze, and interpret data to monitor program performance and identify trends.


• Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on program performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and other relevant metrics.


• Monitor the implementation of programs to ensure they are executed according to plan and meet established standards.


• Ensure programs comply with organizational policies.


• Collaborate with program managers, staff, and other stakeholders to gather insights, address issues, and support program improvements.


• Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend changes to enhance program effectiveness and efficiency.


• Review, amend and incorporate policies and program procedures within CHW Diabetes Program that are in alignment with SLFNHA’s strategic plan, relevant published reports, and the Regional Diabetes Strategy.


• Provide recommendations to guide program decision making and assist with implementation of same.


• Support data collection, coordination, and analysis of program research initiatives.


• Support program implementation activities such as training and workshops.


• Willingness to travel occasionally for in-person meetings, to support/conduct program implementation, and data collection as needed.


• Draft correspondence and briefing notes for the VP – Community Health, Manager of the CHW Diabetes Program.


• All other duties as assigned.
