Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.


 


Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager Digital Services, Supervisor Digital Services or designate, the Application Administrator provides overall administrative support, technical support and direction to the users of clinical or non-clinical applications. The incumbent is assigned the highest-level system administrator rights and oversees application administration for the program, site, or region.

Experience


  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a health information services environment in a health care setting with a focus on health information analysis, data management and the promotion of data quality and integrity.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with abstracting application software, application administration, data management and structured query language (SQL).

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)


  • Successful completion of a post-secondary degree/diploma in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

  • Specialized knowledge in the applicable clinical/business area is required.


 


SPECIAL TRAINING:



  • Training in Crystal Reports, Project Management software, database administration, and SQL is preferred.

Certification/Licensure/Registration


  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications and Skills


  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with health information staff, information systems staff, health professionals and external contacts from MH, CIHI and vendors.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation and instructional skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and prioritize demands to meet deadlines and achieve defined customer service levels.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the requirements of the Manitoba Personal Health Information Act.

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and Office suite.

Physical Requirements


  • Must be able to work flexible hours as required to accommodate service requirements of facilities and the regional system.

  • Overtime may be required.

  • Travel required within Winnipeg for site visits.
