02/17/2026The Canadian Operations Team has an excellent opportunity for an Apprentice Rotating Equipment Mechanic or Millwright. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of experienced journeyman mechanics and millwrights, assisting in maintenance, equipment optimization, and start-up and commissioning of equipment in the Dawson Creek area. There may be a requirement to change shift schedules to provide adequate coverage in the future.
Responsibilities:
Assist in maintaining area mechanical equipment including Caterpillar 3600 series engines, Waukesha engines, various gas compressors, liquid pumps, air compressors, power generation equipment, and other site mechanical equipment (UTVs, Skid Steers, etc.).
Support proper documentation of services, overhauls, preventative work, and repair records as .
Learn and utilize Maximo/CMMS systems to ensure work orders and PMs are up to date.
Participate in on-call duties as skills and experience progress.
Understand and follow safety responsibilities such as hazard identification and emergency response.
Maintain superior housekeeping standards throughout the plant and associated areas.
Communicate effectively with operations, maintenance, and management staff.
Engage in ongoing training and development, including job progression and site-specific training.
Identify opportunities to improve safety and reliability as skills develop.
Qualifications:
Enrollment in or willingness to register for an approved apprenticeship program in the Mechanic/Millwright trade.
Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in learning about rotating equipment and gas compression systems.
High safety standards and commitment to safe work practices.
Demonstrated organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from experienced tradespeople.
Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
This is a safety-sensitive position and will be subject to the relevant requirements of the Ovintiv Alcohol and Drug policy, including pre-assignment testing.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
