Job Description - AR/AP & Payroll Support Specialist

WHO WE ARE:



Sasco Contractors Ltd, serves the industrial, commercial, and institutional markets all over BC, specializing in distribution upgrades, commercial one-off new builds, tenant improvements, server rooms and data communication in "mission critical environments", complicated fire alarm upgrades, EV car charges, and electrical service and maintenance.



We work in a fast-paced, unionized environment, local to Burnaby and surrounding areas, with other offices in Kamloops & Vancouver Island. We are a tight-knit team of respectful and humble people working in coordination & sometimes independently, with a positive, solution focused, process-oriented approach and growth mindset.



This role supports our finance team across AR, AP, and payroll, ensuring smooth and accurate daily operations. It’s well‑suited for someone who is organized, collaborative, and detail‑driven, with strong communication skills and the ability to adapt in a fast‑paced environment. You’ll play a key role in supporting internal teams and making sure nothing slips through the cracks, approaching your work with reliability and strong follow‑through.



WHAT YOU'LLDO:



Accounts Receivable (AR)



  • Setup new customer accounts and reactivate existing customers as required

  • Perform collections activities in alignment with established processes

  • Enter daily deposits promptly and accurately

  • Prepare and maintain the receipt forecast

  • Prepare and review month end AR Aging reports, investigating, and resolving discrepancies

  • Prepare and distribute monthly AR reports to relevant departments

  • Prepare top customer reports as part of month-end reporting


Accounts Payable (AP)



  • Setup new vendor accounts and reactivate existing vendors as needed

  • Prepare weekly EFT payments

  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies

  • Prepare and review month end AP Aging reports, investigating, and resolving discrepancies

  • Prepare top vendor and subcontractor reports as part of month-end reporting


Payroll and Relief Duties



  • Support full-cycle payroll including:

    • Payroll processing

    • Expense reimbursement

    • Union dues submissions

    • ROE preparation

    • CRA remittances



  • Provide relief for administrative invoices and visa receipt relief



WHAT YOU’LL BRING:




  • Diploma or certificate in accounting

  • Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, relevant industry experience considered an asset

  • Experience with Sage 300 considered an asset

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation an asset

  • Must have Strong communication skills

  • Attention to detail with high accuracy, analytical & problem-solving skills

  • Strong follow‑up and task‑tracking abilities

  • Ability to manage time pressure, shifting priorities, and multiple tasks

  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools

  • Openness to learning and improving processes
