The Opportunity We are currently seeking an Assistant Mines Technologist to join our Mines Technical Services team at Copper Cliff Mine in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a fixed-term (12 months) position covered under the Collective Agreement between Vale and the Local 2020-05 United Steelworkers. This posting is for an existing vacancy. As an Assistant Mines Technologist, you will provide mining technologist support at Copper Cliff Mine. Additionally, in this position you will: Assist in surveying and ventilation duties as directed to support the short and long-term production planning requirements. Perform surveying, perform cavity surveys, prepare incentive contracts, copies and distributes prints and safety notices. Perform ventilation measurements and logs underground data for analysis. Perform routine ground control duties such as geotechnical data gathering. Perform calibration, minor repairs and adjustments to equipment. Responsible for providing service to internal or external customers in a timely way according to the specific requests and stated expectations of the customer. The quality of the service is largely guided by government legislation and by Vale mine standards. Experience: Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in ventilation, surveying, and ground control monitoring. Skills: General knowledge of surveying, ventilation, incentive, safety notification and ground control principles. Use and Maintenance of ventilation and survey equipment. Proficiency in the use of: DeswikCAD, and Microsoft Excel.
