Description


The Rankin School of Nursing invites applications for a 9-month Limited Term Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.  The appointment can commence as early as August 17, 2026, at our beautiful and historic St. Francis Xavier University campus in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.


Key Responsibilities



  • Teaching and supervision within the undergraduate program, across its three program streams, and contributing to scholarship within the School and University.

  • Academic and professional service within the School and broader University community.


The Ideal Candidate Will Have:



  • Expertise in medicine/surgical nursing or critical care.

  • A baccalaureate degree in Nursing and a Master’s degree (preferably in Nursing) is required. A PhD in nursing is preferred. Proof of credentials are required before appointment.

  • Current or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN) as a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner is required.

  • Evidence (or evident promise) of excellence in teaching and dedication to students.

  • Demonstrated commitment to service and life-long learning

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Experience collaborating effectively with colleagues, teams, and external partnerships
