Assistant Project Manager – Electrical Construction

Position Overview
Our client, an established electrical contractor working
extensively in the high-rise construction sector, is looking to add an
Assistant Project Manager to its project team.
This is primarily an office-based position supporting
electrical construction projects through coordination, documentation,
procurement, cost tracking and communication with project stakeholders. The
role is suited to someone with an electrical background who is looking to move
further into project coordination and project management.
Candidates may come from a construction coordination
background or from the electrical trade, including individuals who have spent
time working on site and are interested in transitioning into an office/project
management position.
Key Responsibilities
- Support
Project Managers with the day-to-day coordination of active electrical
construction projects.
- Review
project requirements and help organize information required by field
teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Coordinate
purchasing, material requirements, equipment orders and delivery
schedules.
- Track
shop drawings, submittals and approvals.
- Prepare,
issue and follow up on RFIs and other project documentation.
- Maintain
project records, correspondence, logs and meeting information.
- Assist
with project schedules and monitor important dates and deliverables.
- Track
extras, revisions and change orders throughout the project.
- Assist
with pricing and documentation associated with changes in project scope.
- Support
progress billing, cost tracking and general project financial
administration.
- Communicate
regularly with site personnel to ensure required information and materials
are available.
- Coordinate
with general contractors, consultants, suppliers and other project
participants.
- Assist
with deficiencies, commissioning, closeout documentation and O&M
information.
- Provide
general administrative and coordination support across multiple projects
as required.
Experience & Qualifications
- Approximately
1–3 years of construction, electrical or project coordination experience
preferred.
- Previous
electrical construction experience is an asset.
- Electrical
apprenticeship or hands-on field experience will be considered.
- Diploma
or degree in construction management, electrical engineering technology or
a related discipline is beneficial but not mandatory for candidates with
relevant industry experience.
- Understanding
of electrical construction drawings, materials and terminology is an
asset.
- Experience
working with change orders, extras and project costing is beneficial.
- Experience
with Accubid or similar electrical estimating software is an asset.
- Comfortable
working with Microsoft Office and standard construction/project
documentation.
- Able
to organize and track multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.
- Strong
written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Details
This is an office-based project coordination position rather
than a site-based construction role.
The successful candidate will work closely with Project
Managers and field personnel on electrical construction projects, with
significant exposure to high-rise residential work.
Benefits are available following the initial three-month
period.
The position is available for an immediate start.
Compensation Transparency
The expected compensation range for this role is $60 000 – $80 000 annually, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
