What You’ll Be Doing

Capital Markets and Direct Financial Services provides integrated services and products aimed at serving investors as well as corporate and institutional clients globally. The Capital Markets business is a recognized leader in the industry specializing in investment banking advisory services, corporate lending and research. In addition, the Direct Financial Services arm provides alternate services and solutions such as direct investing, direct banking and unique international payment solutions. Collectively, these lines of business are achieving CIBC’s core purpose: to help make our clients’ ambitions a reality.

The successful applicant will provide business management support to Global Corporate and Investment Banking (GC&IB). The role will act as a liaison between the businesses (front office) and the rest of the Bank to ensure all business strategies, initiatives, projects, operational issues are addressed and resolved.

How You’ll Succeed

Strategy & Business Execution Support:

  • Support and contribute to strategic business planning, working with the business.
  • Work with the Business Management team and Finance Business Support to develop:
    • Senior Management and Town Hall Presentations;
    • Presentations for onsite/offsite conferences; and
    • Ad-hoc presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work alongside the business on a day-to-day basis.
  • Partner with infrastructure groups to implement and execute strategic business plans
    • Build and maintain effective relationships with partners in Operations, Finance, Risk Management, Technology, Legal, Compliance and other corporate governance groups as required to help address and resolve day-to-day issues as well as deliver on business initiatives.
       

Governance & Compliance:

  • Coordinate and attest to CIBC governance functions – user access, contracts, etc.
  • Liaison with Market Data Services and coordinate use licenses.
  • Records Management: Support the Senior Records Officer for Global Investment Banking and Global Corporate Canada ensuring compliance with CIBC’s Records Management Policy.
  • Coordinate and respond to auditor/regulator requests, findings and reports.
  • Act as a liaison with compliance (i.e. ensuring adherence to private side regulatory requirements).
  • Coordinate update of Front Office Policies & Procedures.
  • Develop and implement improvements to internal procedures and practices including effective and documented internal control structure as evidenced by policies and procedures specific to the individual business activities.

Administration:

  • Respond to and provide ad-hoc support for GC&IB administration and executive support team.
  • Oversight of employee organization charts and floor plans.
  • Oversight of deal file maintenance and records management processes.
  • Oversight of employee onboarding and off boarding.
  • Event, business and executive meeting coordination.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Look at ways to improve processes in order to optimize operational efficiencies.
  • Accessible to the business throughout the day to actively respond to information requirements/requests and resolve day-to-day issues.
  • Manage GC&IB intranet resources.
  • Act on ad hoc requests/projects as required.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate knowledge of Capital Markets products (products and processes) with a minimum of 2-3 years of work experience in Capital Markets or a corporate development function.
  • Knowledge of CIBC operating policies, standards and organizational structure is an asset.
  • You have an undergraduate degree; MBA/CFA/CA is an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You bring strong problem solving skills, analytical skills, good judgement and change implementation strategies.
