Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Dean, the Associate Director, Finance is responsible for the comprehensive financial management of all Faculty departments and clinics, including oversight of operating, special, endowment, and research funds within the deanery. Working collaboratively with academic, research, and administrative leaders, the role oversees the financial implications of Faculty objectives and ensures decisions are informed by both academic and administrative financial considerations. The Associate Director, Finance, also manages and develops a team of professional and administrative support staff.

Other Qualifying Skills And/Or Abilities:
Accounting degree and extensive knowledge and experience of budgeting and financial management and analysis.
Graduate degree in related field and / or finance designation is a strong asset (CPA, CMA or CGA).
5+ years of work experience at a management level in a large academic, public or private institution is a strong asset.
Knowledge of McGill fund types (or other University) including experience working with research grants is a strong asset
Demonstrated ability in creating comprehensive financial statements; preparing reports for financial auditors; working with complex formulas and creating detailed professional reports.
Service-oriented with excellent customer service skills and the ability to establish productive working relationships quickly.
Combines robust managerial leadership and strategic business insight with a consistently empathetic and people‑centered leadership approach.
Exemplifies excellence in fostering collaboration and driving high‑performing teamwork across diverse groups.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proven organizational skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Proven experience working in a computerized environment using word-processing, databases, spreadsheets and presentation software.
Demonstrated ability to listen actively with strong oral and written communication skills in both English and French.
