Job Description - Associate Director, FP&A Sales Forecasting & Innovation

   

 

THE POSITION

Provides strategic and operational expertise from sales forecasting. Management of the sales process including sales ex-factory forecasting for NNCI, Gross to net reporting and accruals, reporting of sales performance and ad hoc analytics as required by the organization.

 

Provides key sales analytics and reporting to support executive decision-making. Develop analytical models, market research plans, and / or conduct in-depth analysis to help make business critical decisions.

 

Assesses sales performance for ex-factory sales and identifies opportunities to alter/develop market / customer strategies to optimize market approach and managed markets strategies for the organization. Develops and reports insightful metrics to relevant groups, contributing to managed markets strategy decisions. Develops insights by connecting data analysis, market research and strategic modeling to drive business critical decisions to optimize patient affordability and access for launch and in-line products. Responsible for development and maintenance of a repository of strategy lessons and best-practices.

  • Sales forecasting: 40%
    • Scan the market to understand key trends impacting markets and organized customers
    • Leads and manages the NNCI ex-factory sales forecast and business plan submission
    • Responsible for project management and development of the financial sales forecasting process timeline (AB/RE)
    • Responsible for the ex-factory assumptions used in the sales forecasting process
    • Partner with stakeholders from Commercial Excellence, Marketing, Patient Access and Biopharm teams in relation to sales forecasting
    • Responsible for explaining ex-factory assumptions to executives and other teams, to ensure that all brand sales targets are understood
    • Responsible for managing GFP and GSF with sales forecasting
    • Manage the coordination and timely submissions of all budgets (AB and RE) in compliance with global requirements and ensure that sales targets are anchored across the business
    • Responsible for the development of ex-factory sales forecasting presentations to relevant parties explaining sales forecasting assumptions, in coordination with the Commercial Excellence Team
    • Development and submission of high-quality business plan, providing valuable insights and commentary
    • Responsible for preparing Sales Cheat Sheet summary of key forecast assumptions
    • Support building of department
    • Support the Director to build out the capabilities and the functions of the team
  • Financial analysis & reporting:
    • 20%Review sales performance report on a weekly and monthly basis and provides insights to organization
    • Monitors sales in order to identify revenue risks, purchasing anomalies and significant deviations
    • Responsible for ensuring completeness and accuracy of daily/monthly sales results and reporting to NNCI stakeholders and to the regional finance team
    • Weekly and monthly analysis of Days on Hand for key customers
    • Assists Director and manages preparation of monthly/quarterly reporting packages
    • Prepares ad hoc financial analysis for Director and executive team
  • Sales operations / GTN: 20%:
    • Management of the accruals of rebates agreed to in provincial Product Listing Agreements and fully understand the terms of the various agreements deals
    • Assist Market Access in the validation of provincial rebate invoices for the Product Listing Agreements and true-up the accruals
    • Regular cross-provincial-border sales analysis and act on any non-compliance with term and conditions
    • Responsible for ensuring that all rebate controls meet all audit and internal control (Sarbox) requirements
  • Innovation and Projects: 20%:
    • Assessment of current and new forecasting tools, models, and approaches that inform the sales / GTN outlook for Novo Nordisk brands; identify and introduce process efficiencies
    • Assessment of current data sets and data model to identify and introduce better GTN transparency and analytics
    • Work closely with Global Business Services (GBS), HQ BI COE (Headquarter Business Intelligence Center of Excellence), Finance Digitalization team to build/enhance BI capabilities across the gross-to- net forecasting and sales reporting functions
    • Proposes recommendations for enhancements and/or improvements based on industry trends and evolving business needs
    • Continuously reviews and evaluates the quality of data and new data sources used in analyses, generating new insights

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Head office based. Minimal overnight travel (less than 5%). Expectation of ability to manage multiple stakeholders and meet strict deadlines on short notice.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Business/Accounting/Commerce Degree
  • Designation (CPA, CA) or MBA strongly preferred
  • Proven success and minimum 5 years of experience in finance or sales forecasting
  • Knowledge and experience in pharmaceutical industry preferred
  • Wholesaler management experience preferred
  • Proficiency of SAP, Business Warehouse is preferred
  • Experience with Alteryx, Tableau, and other digitalization tools
  • Proven success and experience with numbers, analytical, planning and reporting tasks (mastery in all competencies)
  • Proven success and experience in planning, prioritizing, executing and follow-up in a timely manner and proactively identify and manage risks and issues
  • Stakeholder management experience
  • Good business understanding and strategic mindset
  • Strong analytical and systematic problem-solving skills
  • Ability to get things done by working effectively across all organizational levels including ET teams
  • Customer mindset
  • Understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Internal Controls
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong Excel skills
