Germania Mutual Insurance is seeking an Auto Underwriter to join our team!

About the Role:

Germania Mutual Insurance is looking for an experienced and motivated Auto Underwriter to join our Underwriting team. In this role, you will be responsible for underwriting complex automobile risks, including fleet and IRCA policies.

This position is ideal for an experienced insurance professional who thrives on analyzing complex risks, building strong broker relationships, and mentoring team members. As a member of the team, you will bring advanced technical expertise, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to support both underwriting excellence and team development.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite new business, renewals, and endorsements within established guidelines


• Assess and evaluate complex commercial auto risks


• Handle referrals, exceptions, and complex underwriting scenarios


• Respond to broker inquiries and build strong, professional relationships


• Contribute to underwriting guideline updates and product development initiatives


• Maintain accurate documentation and clear rationale for underwriting decisions

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of auto underwriting experience


• Post-secondary education or equivalent business experience


• Completion or active pursuit of the CIP designation


• Proven ability to assess complex risks and make sound underwriting decisions


• Experience working with brokers and managing relationships


• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills


• Excellent communication and organizational skills


• Ability to work independently and manage a high level of responsibility


• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach


• High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and service excellence


• Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous learning and professional development


• Experience with Guidewire and familiarity with the Mutual insurance industry are considered assets.

The expected base salary range for this position is $50,000-80,000
where you fall within this range will depend on your experience, skills, qualifications, and how your background aligns with the role.
