Job Description - Automotive Detailer & Shop Assistant

The Opportunity: Simplicity Car Care– Ottawa is looking for an Automotive Detailer/Shop Assistant to join our growing team! In this role, you will be responsible for detailing vehicles, both internally and externally. You will also support the shop with cleaning, removing garbage, sweeping, and washing floors. Applicants interested in this position should have an interest in an automotive career.


Key Duties and Responsibilities



  • Wash the exterior and interior of a vehicle according to Simplicity Car Care SOP’s.

  • Able to perform simple shampoos

  • Vacuum to remove dirt and debris

  • Clean trunk, ashtray, engine department and wheels

  • Buff and wax

  • Clean upholstery and surfaces

  • Use air compressor and buff cloths to dry surfaces

  • Touch up vehicle

  • Rinse and dry mats

  • Manage and maintain appropriate supplies

  • Support cleaning up the shop including removing garbage, sweeping and washing the shop floor

  • Support cleaning the paint booth

  • Help the Body-person clean and maintain repair stalls

  • Moving cars in and out of the shop

  • Coordinate repair schedule with production lead and general manager to ensure repairs are completed within Simplicity Repair Scheduling Standards

  • Other repair planner duties as required

  • All other duties as assigned


Required Education and Experience



  • Valid G class Drivers License and clean driving record

  • Previous experience as a repair planner would be a strong asset

  • Experience with Mitchell or ADP estimating software would be an asset

  • Must own a basic set of automotive tools

  • You have great organization skills and have the ability to work in fast paced environment

  • You have a valid G class driver’s license

  • You have an interest in a career in the automotive industry

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent


Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour


Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
