We are seeking a skilled backend developer for a 3-month contract. You will be responsible for the planning, architecture design, development, optimization, and deployment of our backend systems. You will work closely with the team and independently to ensure the seamless integration of our backend logic with frontend applications while prioritizing security, performance, and scalability.

 

Responsibilities:

Work across our back-end technology stack including Python, JavaScript, MySQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB, and C#.

Configure necessary development tools and libraries, such as Entity Framework Core, HttpClient, and other relevant packages.

Build data integrations with third-party APIs and our core systems.

Implement batch processing techniques for data writes to the database to enhance performance.

Enhance logging and error handling mechanisms to ensure system stability.

Document the new backend system architecture and codebase for reference and knowledge sharing.

Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure smooth integration of backend services.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Proven experience as a Backend Engineer, preferably with expertise in Python and Node.js (JavaScript).

Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases and experience with database management.

Minimum of 3 years' experience with AWS micro-services/products such as CDK, Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, CloudFormation, CodePipeline

Familiarity with front end frameworks, particularly React and AngularJS

Familiarity with deployment tools and scripting languages.

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.

Experience with source control tools such as GIT and GitHub Actions.

Experience implementing and integrating with RESTful web services.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both technical and non-technical.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of media and newsroom workflows.

Experience with asynchronous programming and task scheduling.
