Blaster Assistant/Skilled Labour

Atlantic Road Construction & Paving is a large heavy civil construction company specializing in heavy civil excavation and flatworks, pipeline placement, concrete placement and asphalt paving. We are currently looking to hire two individuals interested in joining or furthering their career in the blasting field.  Working under the direct supervision of a Senior Blaster, you could be a current holder of a Blaster Assistant Card or have a Class 3 certificate.  This would be of interest to an individual who is interested in this field and want to pursue a career.  If you do not have a Blaster Assistant card, assistance will be provided in obtaining this certification. 

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Works well in a team setting.


• Always reliable and punctual.


• Poses a valid Drivers License & have access to reliable personal transportation required.


• Able to demonstrate organizational skill with strong oral and written communication.


• Positive attitude, strong work ethic for a vigorous and physically demanding job with the ability to accept a high level of responsibility.


• Strong attention to detail.


• Ability to consistently handle 25 kg packages.


• Must be willing and comfortable working in all types of weather in all four seasons.


• Must be Bondable.
  
  

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assisting with blasting operations at various worksites across the HRM.


• Follow direction of the Senior Blaster and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.


• Ensure company equipment is operated, cared for, maintained, and used effectively.


• Engage in open communication with the Senior Blaster and report any issues which could affect the project plan.


• Work as a team member to carry out all site work as required.
