About Us
CASA SERENA is a 90-unit independent living residence for seniors in East Vancouver. We are a non-profit organization and registered charity operated by The Italian Cultural Centre Senior Citizens Housing Society (ICCSCHS) with subsidized housing provided by BC Housing.
Reports to: Housing Manager
Responsibilities
(Admin)
· Reception: welcoming tenants and guests, answering/transferring calls, ensuring messages are communicated effectively and efficiently
· General office duties, including scanning, filing, distributing mail, data entry, etc.
· Processing new tenancy applications and assisting prospective tenants with the application process
· Processing service maintenance requests
· Maintaining tenant records, corporate registry files, contracts, and agreements
· Assisting the Housing Manager with tenancy-related services, rent reviews
· Identifying and directing escalated matters to management for resolution
· Maintaining good communication and working relationships with tenants, employees, the Board of Directors, BC Housing, onsite partners, contractors, service providers, and community partners.
(Accounting)
· Perform full cycle accounting duties
· Payroll duties with QB Core
· Maintain accounts payable (AP) ledger, set up suppliers, and reconcile company credit card expenses
· Reconciliation of monthly bank accounts
· Prepare month-end financials, prepare accrual journal entries
· Prepare monthly reconciliations of the general ledger accounts, and investigate discrepancies
· Prepare and submit all tax and regulatory compliance reports and payment
· Assist the Housing Manager and Finance Committee with financial reporting and ad hoc financial analysis as required.
· Any other accounting and administrative duties as directed by the Housing Manager or Executive Board Member
Requirements
· A business degree with a concentration in finance/business/accounting
· Two years of experience in accounting and/or bookkeeping
· Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Payroll,
· Strong knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel, MS Office, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat
· Knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP – IFRS)
· Canadian citizenship or permanent residency in Canada
· Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination
· Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check

· Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills
· Consistent accuracy with attention to detail
· Sound judgment, tact, and discretion in the handling of confidential/sensitive information
· Strong team player
· Strong work ethic with a positive attitude
· Ability to interact effectively and thoughtfully with our seniors, those with language barrier difficulties, and fellow team members
· Clear communication skills in English, both written and verbal (additional languages an asset)

Compensation
· Commensurate with experience ($50,000-$ 55,000 annual salary).
