Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct outreach to promote Skills for Change programs and build relationships with underserved individuals in the skilled trades (e.g., women, newcomers), community agencies, employers, training facilitators, unions, and associations.
- Deliver information sessions, intakes, and registration into programs and events.
- Facilitate career and leadership development workshops, covering topics such as self-advocacy, career planning, communication strategies, etc.
- Coordinate and facilitate program activities such as training and leadership development events, site visits, and field trips.
- Coordinate training event/activity logistics, such as vendor confirmation, schedule, curriculum plans, and client registration.
- Participate in events, meetings, and outreach efforts to enhance program visibility and build connections in the community.
- Coordinate mentorship opportunities between clients and industry professionals.
- Evaluate program delivery and make recommendations for service improvements.
- Refer clients to appropriate wraparound supports and community services to address employment-related or personal barriers.
- Support clients in career development activities including resume development, interview preparation, and navigating the workplace.
- Engage employers to identify employment opportunities and provide employer perspectives in career development.
- Collaborate with training institutions as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files; input client data in internal systems; generate reports, success stories, and testimonials.
- Research and stay current on skilled trades education and employment pathways, licensing, and sector trends.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Work, Career Development, Community Services, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in employment counselling, job coaching, or career services.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills; ability to present to groups and engage clients in workshops.
- Experience working with marginalized populations, particularly women and newcomers.
- Strong knowledge of the skilled trades sector and current labour market demands.
- Demonstrated ability to build employer and community agency relationships.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and presentation tools; experience is an asset.
- Strong organizational, case management, and time-management skills.
- A commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of program delivery.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, client-focused environment.
- A clear, mandator vulnerable sector check is required.
