Job Summary
Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.
The Hansard Services department is seeking a technically adept, adaptable and collaborative individual for the regular full-time position of Broadcast Operations Technician (BOT).
Reporting to the Senior Broadcast Operations Technician, the Broadcast Operations Technician (BOT) is responsible for the operation of complex systems used to conduct, record, broadcast and stream the proceedings of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, including Hybrid systems for remote participation. The BOT is the final decision maker for what content is broadcast live, constantly evaluating video and audio quality, video composition, video content, graphics, and adherence to parliamentary procedure and practices. This position is responsible for the aggregation of data used for on-air graphics, as well as the configuration of automation systems and operation of broadcast equipment, both on-air and in post. The BOT conducts audio and video production, collaborating with other Assembly departments to create content for specific projects. When the House is in session, or Committees meet, the BOT has operational broadcast responsibilities that can lead to extended workdays. The BOT communicates professionally with colleagues, senior management, Officers and Members of the Legislative Assembly, and external stakeholders.
