Building & Yard Attendant

ROLE SUMMARY 

As a Building & Yard Attendant at GS Construction, you keep our facilities running cleanly, safely, and in good repair. You handle everything from building maintenance and minor repairs to keeping the shop and work areas clean and organized, wash bay operations, and outdoor grounds upkeep. This role is well-suited to someone with a hands-on construction or trades background who takes pride in a well-maintained workplace and brings a self-directed, get-it-done approach.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR 

• Building Maintenance & Repairs: Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks throughout the facility, including carpentry, hardware, fixtures, and general building upkeep. Identify and report maintenance issues before they become larger problems. 

• Wash Bay Operations: Safely operate and maintain the wash bay, cleaning construction equipment, company vehicles, and tools as . 

• Forklift Operation: Operate forklifts to move equipment, parts, and materials safely throughout the shop and yard. 

• Shop & Facility Cleanliness: Keep work areas, shop floors, and common spaces clean, organized, and free of hazards throughout the day. 

• Yard & Grounds Maintenance: Maintain the exterior grounds including lawn care, snow removal, salting, and general yard tidiness year-round. 

• Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, wear appropriate PPE, and report unsafe conditions or practices immediately. 


• Team Collaboration: Take direction from the Shop Foreman and work cooperatively with the broader team to ensure the facility runs smoothly and efficiently. 
  

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Experience in construction, general trades, or a maintenance-related environment. 

• Ability to perform minor building repairs and general maintenance tasks. 

• Valid forklift certification or willingness to obtain. 

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. 

• Able to follow direction and work efficiently without constant supervision. 

• Committed to safety, reliability, and working as part of a team. 
  


• Experience operating a skid steer is an asset. 

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

• This is a physically active, hands-on role working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. 

• You will work around construction equipment, cleaning chemicals, and power tools. 


• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the day.
