Business Developer BVC (Beyond Value Chain)


Based in Toronto, Canada or Paris, France


Full-time position, Permanent contract, Local contract


Travels: up to 70%

PUR is recruiting a Business Developer based in Toronto to join the BVC team (Beyond the Value Chain) to build business development strategies and grow our impact. The goal is to build relationships and support customers in implementing environmental projects all around the world. You will report to the BD BVC.


You will be accountable for 4 key objectives :


  • Contribute to building the Business Development strategy in line with PUR global strategy to identify new opportunities and position PUR as the partner of choice;

  • Transform opportunities and provide market feedback to evolve PUR’s offers;

  • Support GAM/KAM to transform ad hoc cross-sales opportunities when relevant;

  • Represent PUR during external events and networks.


Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Develop network with industry leaders and arrange business development meetings with prospective customers to develop a consistent stream of business opportunities;

  • Qualify opportunities and prospects requests (including RFQ, RFI / RFP’s);

  • Provide knowledge on the industry, commodity and interventions to contribute to the global Business Development and product strategy;

  • Capture opportunities and convert prospects into long-term clients by managing relationships from the commercial offer until the project kick-off;

  • Build trust and reinforce partnership by leading advisory engagement;

  • Have a good understanding of PUR standard offers, PUR’s Pitch and differentiation factors to identify new potential business opportunities or financial risks;

  • Lead the contractual discussions with the client with the support of internal stakeholders (legal team etc);

  • Ensure a smooth transition to Key Account Managers at relevant stage and be a support to set cross-sells and upsells when necessary;

  • Be a support to the Product team to define the best product to address our clients;

  • Ensure high quality data update in our internal tools (CRM / Timesheet) to analyze the business evolution;

  • Represent PUR at strategic events (working groups, round tables, conferences, industry events).


We are looking for a candidate with:


  • Passion for impact and engaging with businesses;

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Business Developer including with large corporations; expertise in BtoB long sales cycles;

  • Strong negotiating skills to be able to open doors and capture new opportunities;

  • Strong interpersonal skills, leadership, capacity to communicate efficiently and collaborate in a global environment especially during the design of the commercial offer;

  • Solution driven, focused on achieving objectives and ensuring sales excellence to optimize the acquisition of business and grow our impact;

  • Experience in a fast international growing environment (scale-up environment);

  • Ability to travel and attend events;

  • Able to come 3x to the office per week minimum - this is not a full remote position;

  • Fluent in English. French or Spanish would be a strong asset.
