Business Development and Client Relations Specialist
Our client is a leading professional services firm with a strong national presence and a collaborative, high‑performance culture. The firm is known for its strategic approach to client service, investment in people, and commitment to innovation across its practice groups. They are seeking a Business Development Specialist to support business planning, client development initiatives, and marketing programs across assigned practice and industry groups.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development Strategy & Planning
Work in collaboration with the relevant BD Director or Manager(s) to prepare agendas and supporting materials for practice, industry group, and client team meetings.
Support the initiation, framing, and facilitation of business planning for assigned practice groups.
Source and provide summary analyses from multiple in‑house and external sources to support planning and strategic initiatives.
Contribute to the development of project plans and deliver on assigned accountabilities.
Client Development, Pitches & Proposals
Draft information packages and client‑facing materials for pitches and proposals.
Support the development of more complex Requests for Proposals (RFPs) in partnership with the Senior BD Manager and Proposals team.
Participate in table‑setting discussions with assigned groups and prepare draft submissions for review and approval by management and accountable partners.
Events, Sponsorships & Client Programming
Work closely with the Events team to support the planning, preparation, and successful delivery of firm events, including onsite and logistical support.
Assist with the development and execution of educational programming, including seminars, webinars, CPD sessions, and targeted client initiatives.
Support the planning, monitoring, and execution of sponsorships and industry association events.
Marketing Materials & Budget Management
Assist with the preparation and monitoring of annual business development expenses and budgets.
Assess marketing investments and expenditures to optimize value and impact, including drafting business cases and recommendations as required.
Collaborate with the Marketing Communications team to develop, review, and update digital and printed marketing collateral.
Problem Solving & Judgement
Demonstrate openness to new ideas and apply creative problem‑solving to overcome challenges or barriers.
Identify and escalate potential risks arising from internal or external changes that may impact assigned groups.
Develop an understanding of the firm’s economic model and operational flow and consider implications for the firm and supported groups.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in business, marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of three to five years of experience in business development, marketing, or a similar role.
Experience within a professional services environment is considered an asset.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements
Courteous, responsive, and able to deliver with a strong sense of urgency.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to develop presentations and client‑facing materials.
Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor junior team members.
Strong interpersonal skills, with patience, tact, and confidence.
Ability to adapt quickly across multiple practice areas, industries, and business priorities.
Commitment to continuous learning and applying best practices to improve consistency and effectiveness.
Strong technical proficiency and willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
