Lawson Lundell LLP is seeking a Business Development & Marketing (“BDM”) Specialist to join our Vancouver office. Working with the Director of Business Development and the Chief Business Development and Marketing Officer (“CBDMO”), the BDM Specialist is primarily responsible for developing and executing the business development and marketing initiatives of assigned markets, practice groups, and industry groups. This role will play both a lead and support role on key projects and initiatives, with both short and long-term goals aligned with the firm’s strategic priorities.
Essential Job Functions:
Work with assigned practice and industry groups and markets to develop their annual business plans and execute business plan initiatives throughout the year.
Develop strategies and identify opportunities to promote the practice, increasing its visibility and positioning in the market.
Assist in identifying targets and provide relevant research and strategic ideas to acquire new business.
Coordinate and assist in the development of customized pitches, RFP/RFI responses, and presentations for new business opportunities.
Work with the broader BDM team to develop, organize, coordinate and execute seminars, receptions, and special events taking place in the local market. Responsible for creating and managing critical dates and timelines concerning local events and sponsorships. Draft and manage all internal and external communications for programs.
Evaluate key sponsorships and networking opportunities with professional organizations and associations in the local market. Coordinate all deliverables associated with office or practice-identified key sponsorships. Leverage the Firm's involvement to strengthen client relationships, and create client and lawyer connections across the organizations.
Support firm and office initiatives ranging from related client outreach to office business development plans.
Assist lawyers/groups with their efforts to introduce and develop relationships with existing firm clients, prospective clients and industry associations.
Competitive Intelligence
Assist with directory and award submissions as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Specific Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related discipline an asset
Proven working experience (3-5 years) in a professional services marketing environment with strong preference given to candidates with law firm experience
Demonstrated ability in creating and implementing business development strategies
High-level communication and critical thinking skills
Demonstrated ability to manage and negotiate with stakeholders within and outside the Firm
Ability to work well independently and in a team oriented environment
Ability to handle multiple projects and complex tasks simultaneously
Demonstrated project management and time management skills
The typical salary range for this position is $60,000 - $90,000 annually; the base pay offered is based on location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, internal and market equity. In addition, we offer a variety of benefits, including:
