Job Description - Business Development Lead

About the Role

As a Business Development Lead, you will be responsible for supporting a critical element of our investment efforts and collaborate closely with the M&A team on deal execution. You will support identifying leads for vertical market software businesses and developing/maintaining relationships with founders and investment bankers as they pursue an exit.

Successful Business Development professionals have excellent interpersonal skills and are meticulously organized to ensure all relationships are maintained and we remain top of mind with counterparties. They must be creative in developing sourcing strategies that add new relationships while also demonstrating leadership capabilities in managing and building a team. Financial literacy and business sense is also crucial in supporting initial evaluation of a potential investment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to support initial lead gen for software businesses in Helios investment criteria
  • Maintaining existing relationships via calls and emails with potential sellers, ensuring that Helios is well-positioned once counterparty is exploring a potential exit
  • Communicating with the investment team on a regular basis the critical relationships that the team should explore in further depth
  • Support initial investment rationalization for early-stage M&A processes
  • This role will require significant travel

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience in software sales, business development and/or M&A
  • Financially literate with undergraduate degree in Business, Marketing or similar profile
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and entrepreneurial with the ability to creatively set and execute origination strategies
  • English fluency: Fluency in additional languages is preferred but not required
