A day in the life of a Cake Decorator:

Making that moment extra special is what our Cake Decorators do at Safeway. The sweet aromas of our
own fresh-baked Artisan breads, pastries, cookies, and muffins make our Bakery a must-stop place for
customers. It’s a fun sales opportunity and a creative one, too. You’ll find yourself able to give truly
personal service here, helping our customers plan parties and introducing them to our new offerings and
personalizing their baked goods.

Job Description

Responsible for superior service goals of the department

Greets customers in a polite and friendly manner

Icing, finishing, personalizing and decorating specialty bakery product

Ensure standards of department presentation and operations are met; including cleanliness and sanitation, inventory control, rotation, quality, ordering, variety standards, signing, seasonal schematic, and proper backroom procedures

Ensure the department has the highest quality of product available for the customer

Monitor to ensure variety standards are followed, as well as 100% compliance on ad item display

Evening and weekend availability is strongly encouraged

Must be available to be scheduled anytime on Sunday (Alberta Only)

Physical Requirements

(Seldom: Not Daily, Rare: 0-5% of shift, Occasional: 6-33% of shift, Frequent: 34-66% of shift, Constant:
66-100% of shift)

Frequent lifting of up to 10 pounds

Constant hand coordination, reaching, gripping

Frequent standing, walking, bending

Occasional lifting or carrying of between 10-45 lbs including waist level and low level lifts

Occasional climbing (step ladder, stairs), squatting, pushing or pulling
