Job Description - Canada Basketball Domestic Development Fall (Sept- Dec) 2024

Canada Basketball is the national sport governing body for amateur basketball in Canada. Located in
Toronto, Canada Basketball is a not-for-profit organization whose mandate is to “Lead in the Promotion and Development of Basketball in Canada through Programs and Services”.

Length and Term : The position will run from September to December 2024 (4-month term) (up to 450 hours required during the term).

Application Deadline : July 5, 2024

These positions will earn a $3000 honorarium for the term. Some positions may request students to work over and above the 450 hours. Incremental hours worked over 450 hrs during the term will be paid at $16.55/hr. Students MUST be enrolled in a coop program using this term as credit towards their
degree/diploma.

  • Close attention to detail and accuracy, with ability to follow through.
  • Sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and the ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to deal with personal information in a confidential, ethical, and professional manner.
  • Possess excellent organization and implementation skills, as well as creative thinking skills.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize appropriately in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to work independently, maintain tight schedules and work flexible hours.
  • Present a professional and mature attitude in dealing with team members, sponsors, and
    the public.
  • Willingness to assist in other programs of the organization, as required.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian sport system and the provincial and national basketball
    environments is an asset.
  • Ability to work extra hours as required to complete tasks and available to work weeknights, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Bilingual French/English is an asset.

Skills and Responsibilities

  • Detail oriented with strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), SmartSheets, Google docs, internet research, and ability to learn new programs.
  • Bi-lingual is a strong asset.
  • Willingness to work extra hours as required to complete tasks and available to work
    weeknights, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian basketball sport system, and the provincial and national
    basketball environments.
  • Understanding of basic project management skills and experience, particularly adhering to
    timelines, planning and documentation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, tight deadline environment.
  • Knowledge of the NCCP certification system.
  • Train on “The Locker” NCCP system and support the management of related databases.
  • Responsible for administrative duties relating to inquiries, database management, and all
    other service functions as required.
  • Bring a critical lens to the position to identify opportunities for program growth
    and efficiencies.
  • Communicate with external partners and basketball stakeholders as it relates to event
    logistics and management.
