Position Summary:

Reporting to the Echo Lead, the Echocardiography Technologist role is an important position within the

One Heart Care Clinic. You are able to work collaboratively and independently within a multidisciplinary team.

Your responsibilities vary around the core role of completing echocardiographic examinations.

when attending to patients and visitors. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited
to, optimizing quality, productivity, and interoperability of OHC with the ultimate goal of
excellent patient care.

Education and Training:

1. Must be a graduate of an accredited program in Cardiac Diagnostic Medical
     Sonography - Adult Echocardiography.
2. Current certification with Sonography Canada/ARDMS and registered with CMRITO.
3. Types of Echos performed:
     a. Echo’s with Ultrasound enhancing agents (Definity)
     b. Agitated saline contrast studies
     c. Stress Echo

Responsibilities:

1. Diagnostic Skills

   * Participates in the day-to-day scanning and reporting of echocardiographic studies
   * Ability to set up IVs (training is available)
   * Good knowledge of cardiac anatomy
   * Proficient with M-Mode and 2D Echo Doppler
   * Experience in Stress Echo and Contrast Echo an asset
   * Ability to work well independently and in an interdisciplinary team environment
   * Prepare accurate reports for physician interpretation

2. Communication

   * Well-developed interpersonal, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
   * Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
   * Notify cardiologist of significant findings that may necessitate immediate attention to
     the patient

3. Patient Care

   * Provides a professional attitude and a positive image for the department and facility
     by receiving, processing and directing professional and non-professional employees
     patients, and visitors in a pleasant and courteous manner
   * Excellent bedside manner

4. Organizational Skills

   * Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail
   * Must be comfortable to work in fast paced office environment
   * Able to work collaboratively and independently within a multidisciplinary team and
    ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task
   * Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following infection control
     standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations
