About the Role

As a Casual Security Guard assigned to NOVA Chemicals, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining site security, enforcing safety procedures, and supporting day-to-day operations at one of Sarnia’s premier industrial facilities.

You’ll work across multiple NOVA sites, including Corunna, Rokeby, St. Clair River, and Moore, ensuring the protection of personnel, assets, and visitors. This role is ideal for security professionals with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Enforce company policies and maintain compliance with safety and security procedures
• Control access points and monitor for unauthorized entry
• Respond promptly to alarms, site emergencies, and security breaches
• Conduct foot patrols to ensure personnel, buildings, and equipment safety
• Operate CCTV, access control, and traffic control systems (experience is an asset)
• Maintain detailed logbooks, reports, and database entries (e.g., IEC database, visitor passes, key logs, taxi vouchers, etc.)
• Schedule fleet vehicles and coordinate overtime meal orders as required
• Perform weather-related monitoring (e.g., humidex readings, lightning tracking)
• Conduct contractor site safety training and monitor entry compliance
• Perform vehicle inspections and ensure compliance with site access requirements
• Communicate effectively with internal teams and emergency services when required
• Deliver exceptional customer service and provide assistance to visitors and staff

Requirements (Must-Have)

• Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• Valid First Aid & CPR – Level C (WSIB-approved provider)
• Minimum 1 year of security experience (industrial or related environment preferred)
• Valid Ontario G-Class Driver’s License
• Ability to provide a clean driver’s abstract
• Legally authorized to work in Canada

Preferred:

• At least 2 years of industrial security experience
• Familiarity with the Trespass to Property Act and Mental Health Act
