Job Description - Casual Youth Worker

About the Program


The Solo With Supports (SWS) Program helps youth build the life skills, confidence, and independence they need as they transition into adulthood. Youth may live in a mentor support home or in CHIMO's Transition Home while receiving individualized support.


As a Youth Coordinator, you'll support a caseload of youth by providing guidance, case management, and hands-on support to help them reach their goals.


What You'll Do:



  • Help youth build the skills and confidence they need to thrive as adults.

  • Develop, monitor, and update Safety Plans and Service Plans.

  • Work closely with youth, families, support networks, and community partners to provide coordinated care.

  • Connect youth with community resources and advocate for their needs.

  • Keep accurate case notes, reports, and documentation.



What You'll Bring:



  • A diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Disability Services, Social Work, Psychology, Community Rehabilitation, or a related field.

  • At least two (2) years of experience working with children, youth, or young adults.



Requirements



  • Eligible to work in Canada.

  • A current Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check (issued within the past six months).

  • A valid Alberta Driver's License.

  • At least three (3) years of driving experience with a clean three-year Driver's Abstract and Driving Record, with no at-fault claims.

  • Access to a reliable vehicle, as regular driving in the community is required.

hysical Requirements



  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to participate in recreational activities and physically engage with youth when needed.

  • Have experience supporting youth with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, trauma, addictions, or barriers to community resources.

  • Are organized, adaptable, and comfortable writing reports and maintaining documentation.
