Caustic Attendant

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Die Shop Supervisor the Caustic attendant is responsible for handling and cleaning used extrusion dies in preparation for further use in production.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

• Minimum of grade 8 education.

Technical Skills/Competence

• No experience is necessary for this position. Candidate must be willing and able to work with caustics and comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds .

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of the Caustic Attendant are detailed below, but not limited to the following:

• Ensure all extrusion dies are placed in caustic tank at the end of day’s production, once dies have cooled.
• Empty caustic tanks using pump set-up when caustic is inactive and replace with fresh water and caustic solution.
• Follow and organize work based on priorities specified by die shop when necessary.
• Comply with all quality related policies, procedures and system requirements.
• Ensure all dies are rinsed well after removal from caustic and sand blasted.
• Ensure that caustic tanks work at their best for fast die cleaning.
• Maintain a clean work environment in caustic enclosure.
• Report any equipment malfunction to maintenance.
• Ensure caustic room exhaust is working.
• Use safety equipment supplied.
• Other duties as assigned
