Salary Range: $65,000 to $85,000 non union

The TalentSphere Staffing Solutions is partnered with a leading healthcare centre in the Greater Toronto Region that offers inpatient, outpatient, and outreach services for specialized rehabilitative and complex care after life-altering illnesses or injuries like lung disease, amputation, stroke, and musculoskeletal injuries.

Responsibilities
Create change and impact the lives of patients in a positive way and help them achieve their goals through your work as a Certified Prosthetist.
Provide patient care to clients with prosthesis and advise on issues related to prosthetic care.
Participate in the client follow-up process with multidisciplinary rounds, conducting post prosthetic clinic visits and any adjustments necessary to ensure optimal functional use by the client.
Provide patient care to clients with neurological/muscular and/or skeletal disorders by evaluating, designing, fitting and aligning an appropriate orthotic device. Liaise with physicians and therapists on issues related to orthotic care.
Ensure that technical fabrications of devices are prescribed by communicating any specific details to the Prosthetic/Orthotic Technician and repair devices and order prosthetic componentry required.
Participate in clinics with provision of prosthetic expertise and authorization of devices required.
Ensure on-going client follow-up and billing by maintaining timely and accurate client records.
Provide technical assistance where necessary and assist in promotion of the department.
Ensure awareness of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients, residents, students, employees, volunteers, physicians and visitors and ensure:
Compliance with the safety standards of the hospital and applicable legislation
Identification and prevention of safety issues and problems; and corrective action
Attendance at safety meetings/training/updates in accordance with the Centre’s standards
Demonstrate the core values of Excellence, Respect, Trust, Collaboration and Accountability
Perform any other duties that are deemed relevant to the position at the manager request.
Qualifications Required
Graduate of a recognized post graduate clinical prosthetic and orthotic program is required
Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist with the Canadian Board for Certification of Prosthetists and Orthotists (CBCPO) and member in good standing is required
Membership in the Ontario Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists (O.A.P.O) is desired
Membership in the Canadian Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists (C.A.P.O) is desired
3-5 years related experience
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Basic computer skills
Demonstrated ability to meet production timelines
Evidence of commitment to continuous education
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Experience working with computerized assisted design (CADCAM)
Fully versed in both clinical and technical methods of fabricating and fitting devices
Well-developed clinical problem-solving skills and technical hand skills
Experience with microprocessor and myoelectric prostheses
