Honorarium Position

Overview

The Chief Electoral Officer (C.E.O.) ensures fair and transparent ASUS elections by ruling on disputes, overseeing election policies, and assisting in election organization. They work closely with the Chief Returning Officer (C.R.O.) to establish election timelines and procedures, ensuring all candidates follow ASUS guidelines. The C.E.O. plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process by making impartial, policy-driven decisions. Additionally, they assist in hiring and training the elections team while preparing for a smooth transition to the next officer.

Applications are due by March 30th, 2025 at 5PM EST.

Time Commitment and Remuneration

Term: May 1st, 2025 – April 30th, 2026

Hours: 5-6 hours per week

Honorarium: Awarded based on the Honorarium Grid in the Human Resources Policy (Click here)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Rule on election disputes and enforce ASUS election policies.
• Collaborate with the C.R.O. to establish election timelines and organize candidate meetings.
• Oversee election procedures to ensure fairness and adherence to policy.
• Hire and train elections team members, including Deputy Returning Officers.
• Prepare a Transition Manual for the incoming Chief Electoral Officer.
