CHIEF ENGINEER- Contract Position

Pay Rate: $ 45.00 per hour

In this job, you will produce healthier and better-quality food for customers and communities. Please note this position is for a contract period until approximately December 31, 2026 and may be extended.  The work schedule includes 8 hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, 24-40 hours per week, with some flexibility required. 

• Ensures all refrigeration and steam boiler maintenance work was done properly,  safely and meets regulatory requirements associated with TSSA 


• Ensures the life of machinery is enhanced;  monitor  engineer’s daily log book, production reports and provide weekly overview of operational performances


• Oversee and maintain emergency systems within the facilities 


• Liaison with TSSA on any issues, regulatory changes and corporate requirements and keep Facility Leadership informed as appropriate.


• Lead, influence, motivate and liaise with team members and peers in a diverse working environment; 


• Conduct regular equipment and premise inspections, departmental tours and participate in daily meetings; 


• Coordinate/monitor scheduling of team members to ensure proper staffing; identify staffing needs; 


• Participate in workplace investigations; responsible for corrective actions of all health & safety and external & internal food safety audits


• Responsible for communication of  shift reports, action plan logs, and variances to leadership  team

You are:

• 3^rd Class Stationary Engineer  with an  ‘A’ Refrigeration Certificate; mechanical aptitude and experience;


• Able to navigate ambiguity and changing priorities and work independently


• A tactful communicator with a willingness to solve problems using critical thinking skills


• Committed to a safe work environment that provides a safe product to its customers


• Willing to share and implement ideas for continuous improvement as part of lean manufacturing initiatives
