Job Description - Child Care Supervisor - School Age Programs

The Child Care Supervisor will oversee an engaging school age program designed to inspire children to explore, learn, and thrive.

Reporting to the Child Care Manager, the Child Care Supervisor is a key member of the Child Care team, who will:
Actively interact with children ages 5-12 as a play partner
Support optimal developmental growth through play-based educational programming, including interactive play, literacy, mathematics, science, building, arts and crafts, drama, games, team building, community out trips, swimming, daily physical activity, outdoor play, and sports
Be responsible for direct leading and supervising of staff and children, including supervision, safety, program planning, and instilling the Y's core values of caring, respect, responsibility, inclusion, and honesty
Plan, implement, lead, and evaluate specific expectations of curriculum to ensure YMCA A Place to Connect curriculum is maintained
Guide, coach, and provide feedback to leaders during program times
Build healthy relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
Support and understand sensitive member family experiences and situations, while compassionately guiding children's behaviors
Safely transport children between program locations using a 24âpassenger van, ensuring all safety procedures, supervision requirements, and transportation regulations are followed.
Actively ensure licensing standards and safety standards are maintained for all child care settings and outings
Participate in and promotes YMCA of Southern Interior BC community initiatives and philanthropy
We’d love to hear from people with:
Must be 19 years of age (as per Provincial licensing standards)
Completed Responsible Adult Certification – 20 hours of professional education in Child Development, or Health, Nutrition, Safety, or Behaviour Guidance.
Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR level B or C
2 years experience working with children
3 years supervisory experience in a team setting
Proficient with Microsoft Programs including Word, Outlook, Teams, and Excelâ¯
Compensation: $24.61 per hour, plus the YMCA of Southern Interior BC offers a competitive compensation and benefits program including:
