Rideau Chorale is a 50-60 voice, auditioned community choir in Ottawa that is dedicated to the musical development of its members, the pursuit of artistic excellence, and the presentation of beautiful music to the Ottawa community. We are seeking a part-time Choir Coordinator to provide administrative, communications, and event planning and coordination support.
The highest level of activity is in late November/early December and April/May based on the dates of the two concerts per season. This position is contracted on an annual basis.
Work Hours: 5-10 hours/month on average
Work Location: Usually at the discretion of the Choir Coordinator, on-site work is required during concerts
Remuneration: $20/hour
Duties include:
- Monitoring the [email protected] and [email protected] email addresses. Responding to straightforward questions or forwarding emails to the Chair where necessary.
- Organizing auditions by receiving requests and communicating the date(s), location and other information to those auditioning.
- Providing a list of auditioning individuals to the Chair and Music Director.
- Recommending a social media strategy to promote Rideau Chorale and each concert, and executing this strategy.
- Creating social media content and posting on the various Rideau Chorale social media platforms.
- Planning, recruiting volunteers and overseeing the Front of House requirements for each concert. This includes working closely with the Treasurer.
- Participating in occasional meetings with the Chair, the Executive Committee and/or choir volunteers on various subjects.
- Reporting regularly to the Chair about activities and submitting a timesheet monthly.
Qualifications:
- Excellent knowledge of and facility with social media, in particular Facebook and Instagram.
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong time-management and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate patiently with the choir volunteers.
- Knowledge of and facility with google platforms.
- Knowledge of the choral world is an asset.
