About the role



The Claims team at Coalition stands apart for our outstanding level of policyholder service and knowledgeable handling of claims for our insured customers. Claims, as a team, works to find ways to assist our policyholders to find solutions to cyber risk. As we continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced claims professional to join our cyber claims team and handle large market claims under the most complex and intricate primary and excess Cyber, Tech, and Media policies, as well as other financial lines coverages. You will also provide assistance to the underwriting team and manage/collaborate with a variety of vendors, including breach counsel, incident response providers, defense counsel, and coverage counsel for Coalition and its partner carriers. 


This position is fully remote and candidates can be located anywhere in Canada.



Responsibilities



  • Handle the intake of severe cyber events, including the coordination with breach counsel, forensic investigators, and other vendors

  • Evaluate full pending of claims and recommend accurate reserves

  • Manage litigation including third party liability arising from security failure or data breaches, Media and Tech E&O

  • Maintain accurate and timely file documentation/information in our claims system

  • Assess liability and damage data in affiliation with intricate claims, maintaining appropriate documentation

  • Assess insurance coverage issues

  • Intelligently guide and track third-party vendors and service providers’ work and spend

  • Maintain and develop relationships with brokers, risk managers, general counsel, and vendors

  • Identify settlement opportunities to maximize impact and preserve limits

  • Collaborate in the defense and resolution of claims

  • Provide data and reason-based informational assistance to underwriters

  • Provide assistance to business development team with regard to marketing

  • Liaise with partner carriers


Skills and Qualifications



  • 8+ years of experience handling cyber, tech, and/or media claims and litigation for policyholders with revenue above $1 billion

  • Full Adjuster Licence from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) or an equivalent common law regulatory body

  • Adjuster licence from the Québec Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF)

  • Fluent in French and English

  • Strong coverage background

  • Demonstrated experience working as part of a team, leading a team, interacting with others, meeting goals, and successfully performing in a changing work environment

  • Excellent communication skills, interactive experience, and proactive mindset

  • Team-oriented with an aptitude to excel in a collegial environment


Bonus Points



  • Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LLB)

  • CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional) designation


Compensation


As a remote-first organization, our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several Canadian geographic markets. 


In Alberta, British Columbia & Ontario the base salary for this position ranges from $144,000/year up to $180,000/year. 


For all other locations, the base salary for this position ranges from $129,600/year up to $162,000/year. 


Consistent with applicable laws, an employee's pay within this range is based on a number of factors, which include but are not limited to relevant education, skills, job-related knowledge, qualifications, work experience, credentials, and/or geographic location. Your Recruiter can share more on the specific target salary range for your location during the interview process. Coalition, Inc. reserves the right to modify this range as needed.
