Your role at Baxter

This role will be primarily responsible for the safe, efficient use, troubleshooting and training on CIVA’s LIRA machine. In addition, this role will support the ongoing enhancements and modifications to LIRA as required including but not limited to training of the vision system, FLEX label modifications and running test batches.

During periods when the incumbent is not required to support LIRA activities, they will be responsible for picking and preparing CIVA batch components for the cleanroom(s), performing aseptic compounding activities within the cleanroom, labelling and packaging CIVA finished products for dispatch and other duties as required.

What you will be doing:

  • Drive continuous improvement of LIRAs operational efficiency.
  • Support ongoing development of LIRA in conjunction with the Process Automation team.
  • Provide ongoing training and support of CIVA employees in the safe, efficient use of LIRA.
  • Identify, create and implement visual and technical aids to support troubleshooting requirements.
  • Facilitate 3rd party vendor maintenance activities.
  • Perform compounding activities while ensuring full compliance with CIVA SOP’s, including daily environmental monitoring, and maintain excellent aseptic practices/behaviours within the cleanroom environment.
  • Pick and prepare batch components for CIVA cleanroom(s). Label and pack CIVA finished products for dispatch and perform other duties as required.

What do you bring:

Education Level

Required:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Science or relevant field

Preferred:

  • Pursuing registration as a Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP)
  • Successful completion of the PEBC evaluation exam or graduation from a CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Education Program

Major Subjects / Specialties

Required:

  • Aseptic technique knowledge

Preferred:

  • In depth familiarity of antibiotics, TPN, narcotics and chemotherapy compounding principles
  • Understanding of cleanroom requirements, behaviours and activities
  • Biological Safety Cabinet (BSC) and Laminar Flow (LAF) cabinet knowledge
  • Microbiology knowledge
  • GMP knowledge
  • Solid background in USP <797>

Type of Experience

Required:

  • Extensive experience working with automated labelling and inspection equipment
  • Robust cleanroom experience including cytotoxic agents and narcotics

Preferred:

  • Extensive experience with the technical aspects of equipment
  • Cleanroom experience
  • Validation design and execution

Years of Experience

Required:

  • 2 years

Preferred:

  • 3+ years

  • Must be able to follow and retain detailed standard operating procedures (SOP)
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality history
  • Must be able to show drive and a sense of urgency to achieving production deadlines
