The Opportunity:

Have you successfully led a team of Canadian public practice accountants?

Do you thrive as a trusted advisor to small business owners?

Are you ready to make a meaningful impact on the growth and success of a forward-thinking firm?

If you answered “Yes” to these questions, this could be the next big step in your career.

As the leader of our public practice team, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting hundreds of individual and corporate clients. Your mission: deliver an effortless client experience while continuously creating value and uncovering opportunities for growth.

This is a dynamic, fast-paced role where you’ll manage multiple projects, lead a team of accounting professionals, and ensure timely financial reporting and tax filings—all while delivering strategic advice that helps businesses thrive.

You’ll mentor and inspire your team in a collaborative, high-performance environment, oversee financial statement preparation and tax compliance for a diverse client base, and act as a trusted advisor by providing insights that drive profitability and long-term success. In addition, you’ll identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and elevate client satisfaction.

To succeed in this position, you’ll need exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-moving environment. A passion for people, problem-solving, and building scalable processes is essential, along with proven expertise in small business tax planning and advisory services.

If juggling multiple priorities feels overwhelming, this may not be the right fit—but if you thrive on leadership, client relationships, and making a measurable impact, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll do:

Project Management and Client Services

  • Collaborate with our leadership team to serve 500 to 600 small business owners engaged in annual year end and tax projects, as an outsourced resource for financial accounting and tax compliance

  • Manage recurring projects to ensure service standards and project timelines are met

  • Complete quality assurance reviews of finished projects and uphold the highest quality standards for financial reporting for our clients

  • Provide the value of professional advice and guidance on business improvement and profitable business growth

Leadership and Team Development

  • Provide training, leadership and mentorship to a growing team of accounting professionals, including constant feedback and periodic performance evaluations

  • Manage the performance of your team against the key performance indicators (KPIs) established by the firm, including the preparation and monitoring of regular reports

  • Implement software, systems and tools to improve the efficiency and efficacy of our public practice accounting firm with other members of the firm’s leadership team

Business Development

  • Meet with potential clients for accounting and tax services, to present our unique offering, prepare proposals for services, and win new work to help grow our firm.

  • Manage the new client onboarding process to ensure that potential clients are converted into actual clients

  • Identify potential new client opportunities and disqualify opportunities that are a “bad fit” for our firm (I.e., price sensitive, disorganized, late returns)

  • Ensure a seamless integration between our team and our new clients, including communications around expectations and timelines, scheduling work, and initiating and coordinating projects.

Perform all duties as assigned

What You Need:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA)

  • 4+ years in a management position at a public practice accounting firm

  • A proven track record of successfully managing multiple priorities or projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Small business tax planning and advisory services are a requirement

Who You Are:

  • Recognized by colleagues as an inspirational leader who motivates and empowers others

  • Finds joy in coaching and mentoring team members to help them grow and succeed

  • Brings self-awareness and emotional intelligence to every interaction

  • Passionate about people and dedicated to doing work at the highest level

  • Driven to achieve results and continuously improve processes without the need for close supervision

  • Clear and professional communicator, able to convey complex information with confidence and clarity

  • Skilled at giving and receiving constructive feedback to foster collaboration and continuous improvement

  • Highly organized and self-driven, capable of delivering results without micromanagement

  • Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work

  • Strong analytical thinker with proven problem-solving skills for complex financial challenges

  • Committed to excellence and maintaining the highest standards of quality in every engagement

  • Business-savvy and profit-minded, consistently focused on creating measurable value for clients

  • Adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to prioritize effectively

  • Willing to go above and beyond when the situation calls for it, ensuring client success and satisfaction

Our Values:

  • Profit Minded - We do work that is profitable and allows our firm to grow

  • Quality Focused - We review each other's projects and make sure we get it right

  • Value Driven - We give great advice to clients which makes us valued partners

We believe everyone deserves the chance to thrive—personally and professionally. Success doesn’t happen alone, and that’s why we’re here: to empower small business leaders to build stronger, more successful companies. If you’re profit-minded, quality-focused, and driven by creating real value, we’d love to have you on our team. Let’s grow together.
