Job Description - Clinical Specialist

About HEALWELL AI

HEALWELL AI is a physician-led healthcare technology company applying AI and data science to preventive care. Our mission is to improve outcomes and save lives through the early identification and detection of disease. Through our Life Sciences division, we partner with healthcare and life sciences organizations to improve care for patients with rare and complex chronic diseases using AI-enabled patient identification, real-world evidence, and clinical decision support.

Role Overview

The Clinical Specialist – Life Sciences is a physician-facing clinical education and support role within HEALWELL AI’s Life Sciences division. The role supports physicians caring for patients with rare and complex chronic diseases identified through HEALWELL AI’s Clinical Decision Support Platform.

Acting as a trusted clinical resource, the Clinical Specialist supports interpretation of clinical insights, diagnostic considerations, and guideline-aligned care. This role provides education and decision-support only and does not diagnose, prescribe, or assume responsibility for patient care.

This role reports to the Clinical Specialist Team Manager and works closely with Clinical Science, Life Sciences, operations, and commercial teams.

About You

You are motivated by science, innovation, and the growing impact of real-world data and evidence in healthcare. You bring clinical training and early professional experience and are looking for greater ownership, impact, and the opportunity to help advance patient care through AI-enabled insights.

You are detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative, and you take pride in seeing how your work contributes to larger programs that bring meaningful innovation to patients.

Key Responsibilities

Physician Education & Clinical Support

  • Support physicians managing patients identified through the HEALWELL AI Clinical Decision Support Platform.
  • Provide education on disease states, diagnostic pathways, guideline-aligned evaluation, and care optimization.
  • Facilitate case-based discussions to support interpretation of clinical signals, care gaps, and next-step considerations.
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of physician users with a structured cadence of outreach, education, and follow-up.

Clinical Expertise & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Develop and maintain disease-specific educational materials and physician-facing resources.
  • Partner with Clinical Science and Life Sciences leadership to align physician education with algorithm logic and program intent.
  • Capture physician feedback and coordinate with product, technical, and operations teams to support program improvement.
  • Contribute to standardized training materials, playbooks, FAQs, and clinical education protocols.

Program Execution & Reporting

  • Produce program summaries highlighting physician engagement, clinical feedback, and improvement opportunities.
  • Communicate physician insights internally to inform program evolution and customer value.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of clinical interactions and compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., PHIPA, HIPAA).

Qualifications

Required

  • MD or equivalent medical degree (including internationally trained physicians).
  • 2–5+ years of experience in clinical practice, medical education, medical affairs, or physician-facing clinical roles.
  • Experience supporting or managing rare and/or complex chronic disease pathways.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with clinical stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Experience in physician education, clinical liaison, or field medical roles.
  • Familiarity with clinical decision support tools, healthcare analytics, or EMR-derived insights.
  • Fluency in English required; French bilingualism is a strong asset.

Work Environment

  • Based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
  • Primarily remote, field-based role.
  • Occasional travel for physician meetings, customer engagements, and internal collaboration.
