Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programming Coordinator to lead the creation and optimization of CNC programs across our machine shop operations. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, production, and continuous improvement, ensuring CNC programs are efficient, repeatable, and aligned with shop-floor realities.

You’ll act as both a technical expert and coordinator, partnering closely with Engineering, Planning, Purchasing, and unionized production teams to maximize material utilization, machine uptime, and overall manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the creation, modification, and maintenance of CNC programs for a wide range of equipment, including sheet and tube laser systems, Press brakes and bending equipment.
• Review new and revised engineering drawings and translate designs into accurate, efficient CNC programs.
• Optimize nesting, batching, tooling strategies, and material usage to maximize machine efficiency.
• Create, update, and distribute setup sheets (dispatches) and batch/nest documentation for production teams.
• Collaborate directly with shop-floor employees to refine programs based on real-world manufacturing feedback.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Planning, and Purchasing to support CNC-related process improvements and production readiness.
• Develop CNC programs for prototype builds, special projects, and non-standard work orders.
• Maintain structured, well-controlled CNC program libraries within Windows-based environments.
• Ensure all CNC programs comply with ISO quality standards and internal manufacturing controls.
• Support the evaluation and implementation of new CNC equipment and programming software.
• Prepare and transmit DXF, STP, and IGES files to external suppliers for subcontracting requirements.
• Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and cycle-time reduction.
• Support training and knowledge sharing related to CNC programming best practices.

Required & Preferred Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on CNC programming and machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Technical training in Manufacturing, CNC Programming, Machining, or CAD/CAM preferred.
• Proven experience programming and supporting CNC equipment, including Sheet laser systems (e.g., Trumpf, Amada), Tube laser systems (e.g., BLM), Press brakes and bending equipment (e.g., Accurpress).
• Strong working knowledge of G-code and M-code across CNC platforms.

• CNC programming and manufacturing software experience, including: TruTops (Trumpf), BLM software (Artube, PartViewer, VGPNext), Radan / RadBend, NX and AutoCAD.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills for managing CNC program libraries, setup sheets, and batch/nest data.
