Job Description - Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit - Secondment (INTERNAL ONLY)
The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit - BC (CFSEU-BC) is inviting VicPD Officers holding the rank of Constable and looking for a secondment, to apply for an Investigative Team position.
CFSEU-BC’s mandate is “to target, investigate, prosecute, disrupt, and dismantle the organized crime groups and individuals that pose the highest risk to public safety due to their involvement in gang violence.” This is a plain-clothes investigative team that focuses on conducting criminal investigation by targeting and investigating organized crime groups that are involved in violent British Columbia Gang Conflict and pose a threat to Public Safety. This position works out of Victoria CFSEU offices.
Investigative Roles and Responsibilities:
Primary Investigator – Apply principles of Major Case Management to coordinate investigative teams and deal with a variety of critical management issues, make decisions and control the direction and flow of the overall investigative process, and identify and secure the services of human and physical resources
File Coordinator – Ensure quality control of all documents and investigational reports, disseminate information within the investigative unit and the progress reports to the Team Commander, and prepare disclosure packages pertaining to the investigation
Investigator – Draft and execute general warrants, search warrants and production orders, conduct structured interview and interrogations to obtain information/evidence, evaluate information gathered, seize and process exhibits, and prepare Reports to Crown Counsel
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Relevant operational investigative policing experience in complex criminal investigations
Ability to identify and manage the necessary risk in officer safety, crime scene management and exhibit seizure/continuity
Strong communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to communicate in an appropriate manner
Experience working effectively within an integrated police environment and working cooperatively with diverse agencies
Additional basic police training and formal training in investigative techniques, interviewing, serious/organized crime courses and/or search warrants
Experience and knowledge in the recruitment, handling and risk management of confidential informants and police agents is an asset
Experience in conducting overt, covert and tactical surveillance
Experience conducting drug trafficking (CDSA) investigations is an asset
Expectations:
Commitment term is 3 years in this position, with the option to renew for an additional year upon mutual agreement
Ability to work the Investigative Team’s schedule from Tuesday to Friday (0700-1700 hours)
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, overtime callouts, extended shifts and/or weekend and travel on short notice
Career Path Guidelines do not apply to this position
This positing is for two (2) position with one (1) anticipated start date in July 2026 and one (1) anticipated start date in late 2026 or early 2027.
