Job Description - Commercial Operations Manager

Moco isn’t like any other museum. We started in Amsterdam, expanded to Barcelona, and after receiving +5 million visitors are now shaking things up in London. Our goal? To make art fun, bold, and for everyone. At Moco, we showcase work by icons like Basquiat, Warhol, Kusama and street legends like Banksy, whose art challenges power and speaks to the people. We celebrate the voices that are not always found in traditional museums, from the streets to the digital world and beyond. Our spaces are filled with immersive art, powerful messages, and a playful spirit. We believe in breaking the rules, thinking differently, and making art that connects with real life. Our team is made up of curious, passionate people who love creativity, community, and doing things with heart. You don’t need to be an art expert, just open-minded, energetic, and ready to be part of something exciting. Are you a commercially minded operations professional with experience in managing
revenue streams and optimising the visitor experience? Do you thrive in fast-paced,
customer-facing environments where strategic thinking and hands-on leadership go hand in
hand? As a Commercial Operations Manager at Moco Museum London, you will oversee the
museum’s day-to-day operations while driving commercial performance across all revenuegenerating areas, including ticketing, retail, merchandising, private hire, and visitor services. This is a key leadership role with direct impact on Moco’s growth, reputation, and
profitability. You will work cross-functionally with teams across sales, marketing, events, and
finance to ensure smooth operations, high-quality service, and a commercially successful
visitor experience.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage all Floor operations to ensure an efficient, welcoming, and safe experience for all visitors.
  • Commercial Strategy Execution: Lead and implement strategies to increase revenue across the museum’s commercial activities: ticketing, retail, private events, and group bookings.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and support visitor experience staff, retail teams, and operations supervisors. Provide training, coaching, and ensure team alignment with KPIs and brand standards.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Use visitor feedback, sales data, and performance reports to identify areas for operational improvement and commercial optimisation.
  • Budget & Performance Management: Set and manage budgets for commercial areas.
  • Monitor costs, forecast sales, and report regularly on performance and growth opportunities.
  • Partnership Coordination: Work closely with relevant departments to align operations with promotions, exhibitions, and private hires.
  • Retail & Merchandise Oversight: Oversee the Museum Store’s daily operations, stock levels, visual merchandising, and sales strategy.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all operations meet health & safety regulations, accessibility standards, and are fully compliant with legal and company policies.
  • Technology & Systems: Work with ticketing and POS platforms, ensuring accurate reporting, pricing configuration, and operational efficiency.
  • 5–8 years of experience in a similar Operational or Commercial leadership role, ideally within a Museum, tourist attraction or hospitality venue.
  • Strong commercial acumen with proven success in managing budgets and driving revenue growth.
  • Experience managing frontline staff and delivering exceptional customer service in high-footfall environments.
  • Confident with operational systems such as ticketing, retail POS, scheduling, and visitor analytics.
  • Eligible to work in the United Kingdom and ideally based in London, as on-site presence is required.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with a hands-on, proactive approach.
  • Organised, results-oriented, and comfortable working under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Passion for arts, culture, and public engagement
Beneath our brand’s surface, Moco Museum is a united, vibrant and art loving family. We
believe that every member of our team brings in their own valuable ideas, experience and
skills, building upon our core values: inclusivity, positivity and involvement. Together, we
believe that all our aspirations can be achieved. Whether it is celebrating successes or facing
challenges, we approach them as a team, always aiming to give our best and maintain a
commitment to continuous learning. Through our Friday drinks and multiple fun, team-building activities, Moco Museum continues to create a cooperative environment.

In addition, we provide the following benefits:
  • Competitive salary
  • A high energy work environment that will keep you on your toes and inspire you to think outside the box.
  • A fun social calendar of internal team events
  • Exclusive discount on merchandize and admission to enjoy our art with your loved ones
  • Opportunity to develop yourself and to execute your ideas;
  • Lots of fun parties!
