We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Communications Specialist to join our People team in Langley, BC.  

Reporting to the Manager, Communications, you will play an integral part in generating engagement among our team members by finding, writing, and publishing great multimedia stories from our company to share on our internal team member site, The Hub. You’ll be responsible for the full cycle of internal company news including generating leads, going out to stores, conducting interviews, taking photos, shooting & editing video, and publishing stories.

You will be responsible for:

• Being the main ‘roving reporter’ for our internal SharePoint site called The Hub – managing the full internal news cycle for new stories every day, including generating leads, going out to stores, conducting interviews, taking photos, shooting & editing video, and publishing stories.
• Polishing up posts with strict adherence to Canadian Press style for consistency and professionalism.
• Collaborating with the team and people at all levels of the organization to produce engaging, dynamic, and relevant content to more than 20,000 team members in our retail stores and office.
• Supporting communications projects such as presentation development (including writing scripts, designing slides, producing supporting video and audio elements), media relations and writing awards nominations.
   

You have:

• A degree/diploma in journalism.
• 3-5 years of experience in a journalism capacity (reporter and/or editor).
• An editor’s eye and advanced knowledge of Canadian Press style.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
• A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle with the ability to travel to stores on an as needed basis.

• An exceptional written and verbal communicator.
• An inscrutable editor with thorough knowledge of Canadian Press style.
• A skilled photographer and video editor.
• Able to set priorities, lead multiple projects, and deliver against deadlines.
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
• Agile and adaptable, able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Not afraid to ask questions, take initiative, and take risks.
• Able to build and promote collaborative relationships at all levels in the organization.
• Persistent, all-in, and fun!

This position is based at the Pattison Food Group office in Langley, B.C. While we’re currently operating with a hybrid work-from-home and in-office schedule, we look forward to the day when we are all able to work together in the office again.

Compensation Details:

$61,200.00 - $76,500.00

The compensation offered for this position will take into consideration location, education, skills, experience, and other factors.
