VISION:

SCOPE:



The Community Development Manager will lead, coach, and support a group of employees within the 
Community Development Department. The Community Development manager is responsible for ensuring
ONWA’s vision, mandate, objectives, are met and aligned with ONWA’s Strategic Plan.
The Community Development Manager is responsible for ensuring all programs are implemented and 
managed according to the program standards and guidelines. 



QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in social sciences, health, Indigenous Studies, and/or Women’s Studies with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a Supervisory or Management role.

  • Minimum 3 (three) years previous work experience in supporting and advocating for Indigenous women, families and communities.

  • Demonstrated administrative management and project management with the ability to supervise.

  • Knowledge and experience with Indigenous culture, traditions and ceremony.

  • Awareness of the recent, historical, and intergenerational trauma that Indigenous women, youth, and their families may have experienced, including the psychological, neurological, physiological, social, and spiritual impacts of trauma.

  • A demonstrated high level of written, oral, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to negotiate with partners and stakeholders to find collaborative solutions for complex 
    issues.

  • Demonstrated stakeholder management skills with the ability to establish and maintain credible 
    relationships.

  • Experience with financial planning and reporting.

  • Working knowledge of Not-for-Profit organization program delivery and experience working with Indigenous governance structures and communities.

  • Solution oriented with proven analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong networking skills.

  • Experience managing and planning conferences, events, and presentations.

  • Experience with resource review, development, and implementation.

  • Demonstrated organizational, time management, presentation and facilitation skills.

  • Ability to follow through on assigned duties independently and within team settings.

  • Ability prioritize and to meet strict deadlines.

  • Ability to be flexible, to be creative and to create strength-based solution.

  • Ability to prioritize programs and activities within budget and time considerations.

  • Proficient working knowledge of MS Office Software, internet, and general office equipment.

  • Ability to travel.

  • Reliable vehicle, appropriate vehicle insurance coverage and valid Ontario “G” class driver’s license.

  • Current, valid vulnerable sector criminal records check. Valid 1st Aid/CPR.

  • A cellular phone and internet access is required within this position.

  • Must be willing and able to work flexible working from home arrangement if required. This may include a combination of virtual remote work in your home and in office arrangements. This will be based on operational needs and will be determined by the ONWA.

  • Ability to speak an Indigenous Language is considered an asset.

The full salary range for this role is $87,000 - $107,574 ONWA conducts annual performance reviews, and employees may be eligible for salary adjustments based on performance outcomes and available funding.
