Reporting to: Manager of Children and Youth Services     


Type:   Term, Contract (35 hours per week July 14 – August 22, 2025)

Job Summary


 


Reporting to the Manager of Children and Youth Services, the Community Programmer: Youth Leadership will assist in developing programming and co-facilitates the Youth Leadership Program; providing field placement guidance and support, and to assist in the development of youth led community initiatives within a community development framework.


 


Job Specific Responsibilities


 


            ·          Assists in planning and implements activities that enhance positive leadership qualities, preparing youth 13-18 yrs. to become                                   volunteers


·         Creates opportunities for youth to reflect on their well-being and potential


·         Liaisons with SWCHC staff and other community partners if needed


·         Assists in conducting recruitment, registration, maintain files and daily attendance


·         Assists in monitoring and maintaining adequate supplies and equipment for programming


             ·         Ensures all programming meets Health and Safety Standards


 


              Qualifications


 


·         Police check for working with vulnerable populations no older than 6 months


·         Current Standard First Aid, CPR level C


·         Strong knowledge of youth development


·         Effective at communicating and problem solving


·         Experience and flexibility working in diverse community-based programs with families facing multiple health risks and barriers


·         Experience and proven success working with youth 13-18yrs.


             ·         Knowledge of community resources


 


 


This is a Canada Summer Jobs position and the individual hired must be:


(a) between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.


(b) a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act [S.C. 2001, c. 27]*; and


(c) legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.


*International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
