Job Description - Compliance & Integrity Officer


The Position


The Ethics and Compliance Officer is responsible to set up, steer and govern a compliance risk management framework to maintain relevant Canadian compliance standards.  This individual will inform and guide ethics & compliance decision-making within Human Pharma, Animal Health, group functions, the executive committee and the CMD.


This job posting is for an existing vacant position. 


 


Responsibilities



  • Responsible to ensure the design and implementation of robust, risk-based and customer-centric compliance program in Canada considering the relevant compliance risk areas and the global framework provided by Corporate E&C

  • Owns risk assessment and monitoring, gives compliance guidance, and advises on relevant compliance risk areas; Empowers the business through guidelines, training, processes and tools; conducts investigations of alleged compliance violations

  • Represents Canadian OPU on global legal compliance team and global subcommittees.

  • Provides regular reports to global compliance stakeholders as to compliance program status, trends, and project implementation progress.

  • Identifies Canadian compliance trends to global stakeholder community

  • Regularly reports to executive committee and CMD on compliance program status and collaborate with executive leadership to build compliance into strategic business framework.

  • Enable constant growth and development of the organization in the field of compliance

  • Expert in the relevant fields of compliance; monitors the Canadian compliance environment. Represents BI on industry association stakeholder committees to advance BI interests and perspectives in Canada-wide industry policy development

  • Implements stakeholder engagement procedures, incl. funding pathways for external stakeholders, grants, sponsorships, partnership review and approval workflows and individual project review and consultation


This position is based in the Burlington, Ontario office located at 5180 South Service Road and is flexible.
Employees in flexible roles are required to be at the office a minimum of 50% of the time each month and must report to the office when requested and required by their Manager/Department. 


 


Requirements



  • Post-secondary degree; minimum of 5-years experience in legal and compliance fields, preferably within Canadian pharma industry 

  • Broad and deep understanding of pharma industry and significant experience in Canadian regulatory environment.  

  • Proactive and pragmatic individual with strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and experience working in cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to lead and manage a compliance specialist, and to provide guidance  cross-functionally within organization on compliance area

The salary range for this position is from $161,220 to $211,220.  Performance, relevant experience and competency in the role will be a key factor in driving the compensation offered.  In addition, this position is eligible for a variable bonus target opportunity of 20% of the annual base salary.
