Compliance Officer-OGGTA

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Director, Compliance, the Gaming Compliance Officer is responsible for providing compliance review and support to all GTA locations including (GC Toronto, , Pickering, Great Blue Heron & Ajax Casino). This role is accountable for compliance reviews and audits, conducting investigations, documenting findings, liaising with regulatory partners, advising internal stakeholders on compliance requirements, drafting compliance communications, developing controls, updating Standard Operating Procedures, conducting and documenting risk assessments, supporting identification of mitigation plans and following up on plan implementation.

An incumbent in this role will ensure adherence to all provincial and internal controls, regulations, policies and procedures and will lead by example, while contributing to a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees.

Key Accountabilities 

Compliance Investigations, Audits and Monitoring:

• Conducting compliance audits and reviews with a focus on casino operations including, but not limited to: Security, Surveillance, Table Games, Slots, Cage, Marketing, and Food & Beverage
• Conducting compliance investigations on incidents, documenting findings and reporting up

Operational and Department Support:

• Assisting the Compliance Department with reviewing internal processes, documents/reports and all activities which ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements 
• Conducting risk assessments and supporting the development of mitigation plans
• Assisting in the execution of departmental plans and activities
• Helping create an engaged work environment by choosing positivity, respect and collegiality
• Performing other reasonable duties as assigned or directed

Collaboration and Stakeholder Relations 

• Communicating effectively with all appropriate operational departments and external stakeholders such as police agencies, regulatory bodies and provincial crown lottery corporation
• Building strong working relationships with team members, corporate colleagues and external regulators & partners
• Exceeding guest and team member expectations by providing outstanding service to internal and external stakeholder

Education and Qualifications

•  Bachelor degree or college diploma in a relevant discipline such as business administration, audit, or finance or similar work experience
• Minimum 1 year of direct compliance experience or a suitable combination of education and related experience
• Surveillance or operational audit experience in the casino industry an asset 
• Knowledge of AML, gaming  and regulatory framework in Ontario is an asset
• Proven investigative and problem solving skills
• Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service-oriented communication
• Strong organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills and ability to work under pressure
• Proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• The ability to successfully obtain a criminal & background record check
• Valid driver’s license
