Construction Safety Officer, Residential

Position Overview

We are actively seeking a dedicated Construction Safety Officer (CSO) to ensure the safety and well-being of all personnel involved in a new residential development. The CSO will be responsible for implementing safety measures, conducting inspections, and promoting a culture of safety on the construction site.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for executing Beedie HS&E programs in all types of situations (project start-up, duration and close out) on our job sites

Promoting a culture of job site safety, where safety is a shared responsibility

Preparing site safety plans, conducting hazard assessments, incident investigations and risk assessments as required

Ensuring all accidents, incidents and injuries are properly reported to all appropriate parties

Facilitating and participating in site inspections, and implementing corrective action as required

Regularly monitoring safety compliance of workers and sub-contractors

Conducting safety meetings and toolbox talks

Maintaining and preparing thorough documentation and reports

Keeping management updated on issues that arise

Administering first-aid as necessary

Performing other duties as assigned

Desired Skills and Experience

Certified Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or (NCSO) designation

Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety considered an asset

Minimum of 2 years Health and Safety experience

Minimum Occupational First Aid Level II (OFA 2)

Good knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulations, policies, guidelines and standards

Proactive in identifying hazards and implementing corrective measures

Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

Ability to commute to site

Own vehicle required
